When we were approached by Cornerstone Church out of Garden City, Kansas, we were thrilled at the opportunity to bring their vision to life for a new Dodge City location. From the start, it was refreshing to collaborate with a group that knew exactly what they wanted. Through early design meetings and a visit to their New Mexico campus, we gained a clear understanding of their goals, creating a modern, welcoming space for worship, connection, and community growth.

The existing building, once part of the old Walmart structure, was transformed into a place of purpose. The remodel features a children’s church, updated restrooms, and a central lounge with a welcome bar. As part of Phase 1, this lounge area currently serves as the sanctuary, with future expansion thoughtfully designed and planned to accommodate long-term growth.
Inside, the design emphasizes simplicity and openness. Exposed structural elements and white-painted structural decking give the space a light, modern feel, while the finishes, particularly the bathrooms, balance function with beauty.

On the exterior, the building is wrapped in a combination of corrugated horizontal metal panels and warm woodgrain metal siding, offering durability with a welcoming touch. The material palette was carefully selected to reflect both the contemporary identity of the church and the practical needs of long-term maintenance.

As a turn-key design-build project, Phase 1 of Cornerstone Church has been a rewarding experience for our team. We’re proud to help create spaces that bring people together, and we look forward to partnering again on Phase 2 as their ministry continues to grow in Dodge City.
